Vision of the Ram and Goat and the Little Horn

Daniel 8:1-14

Chapter 8
1 In the third year of King Belshazzar’s kingdom, I, Daniel, saw a vision after the one I had seen at the beginning. 2 In a vision I saw that I was in the citadel of Susa in the province of Elam. In the vision I saw that I was beside the Ulai Canal. 3 And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, one ram standing before the stream, and it had two horns—and the horns were tall, and one was taller than the other, and the taller one grew up later. 4 I saw the ram butting westward, northward, and southward, and no beasts could stand before him, and there was no deliverer from his hand. And he did according to his desire, and he magnified himself. 5 As I was considering this, suddenly a male goat came from the west across the face of the whole earth without touching the ground. The male goat had a prominent horn between his eyes. 6 And he came to the ram, owner of the horns which I saw standing before the mourning one, and he ran to him in the heat of his strength. 7 And I saw it arriving beside the ram, and it became enraged toward him and struck the ram and broke its two horns, and there was no strength in the ram to stand before him, and he cast it to the earth and trampled it, and there was no deliverer for the ram from his hand. 8 And the he-goat of the goats magnified itself exceedingly, and when it was strong the great horn was broken, and four horns of vision came up in its place toward the four winds of heaven. 9 And from one of them came out a small horn, and it grew exceedingly toward the south and toward the east and toward the beauty. 10 It grew as high as the host of heaven, and it cast some of the host and some of the stars down to the earth and trampled them. 11 And he magnified himself until the prince of the heavenly host, and from him the continual offering was lifted up, and the foundation of his sanctuary was cast down. 12 And a heavenly host will be given over to the continual transgressors, and it will cast truth to the ground, and it will make and it will prosper. 13 And I heard one holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one speaking, "Until when is the vision of the continual and the transgression that desolates, giving the holy and the host trampled?" 14 And he said to me, "Until evening morning two thousand three hundred, and the sanctuary shall be righteousness."
